The JE Ultra Series Pistons for the 5.0L Coyote are an excellent choice for applications anywhere from 800 HP all the way to 1500 HP +. These pistons include many "Custom" options such as Grain Optimized Forgings, Lateral Gas Ports, Perfect Skirt Coating, Ceramic Dome Coating and .230" Wall Tool Steel Wrist Pins, all in a shelf part number. While extremely strong, these pistons are not particularly heavy and work well in both standard liner and sleeved applications. 

Options and features explained: 

Perfect Skirt Coating - JE's Perfect Skirt Coating is a screen style skirt coating that is 3x thicker than traditional skirt coatings. This allows high performance pistons to be ran at slightly tighter piston to wall clearances. This coating is designed to continuously conform to the cylinder bore while reducing piston skirt and cylinder bore wear. 

Ceramic Dome Coating - The Ceramic Dome coating is optional and definitely not necessary on most applications. It does however, create a thermal barrier at the piston crown and has no negative effects. By having a barrier at the crown, the rest of the piston is protected from the extreme heat of the combustion process. Less heat means less fatigue. Overheating the Alumium alloy will eventually "Anneal" it and counteract the heat treat which gives the piston it's strength. 
 
Lateral Gas Ports - The gas ports allow combustion gasses behind the top ring, pushing it out harder against the cylinder walls for better sealing. These work very well with the smaller top rings and will not prematurely wear out the cylinder walls. 
 
9310 Alloy Wrist Pins - The .230" wall 9310 Pins included with these pistons are both thicker and machined from higher strength material than standard pins. The more rigid the pin, the less defection and less wear on both the pin bore and wrist pin bushing.
