There are some advantages to a NPI head,
and some situations where it is a better choice.
The primary advantage is the stock valves and springs will work with a much larger duration cam than the PI head. This head is also a good choice for original NPI shortblocks that need a better flowing head AND also have a supercharger since swapping a PI head makes the compression too high. NPI heads have extremely high velocity intake ports, you get the same good flow with an intake port about 1/3 smaller than a PI. The original problem with the NPI not making good power was learned to be its poor intake manifold and camshafts. Swapping a PI intake is easy and we have cams that work good with them as well. Stock springs will work to 7000RPM N/A with our cams. |
