Spark plug Issues in Windsor 2V PI heads
| For whatever reason some of the Windsor 2V heads have problems with the full length spark plugs like the NGK. Some of the heads will allow the plug to go into the chamber just a bit too much and this allows the threads to become visible to combustion. The threads become a hot zone and start melting away the aluminum of the head. It appears to be randomly head specific as well as the engine this head in the picture came from the other head did not have the problem. This head has all 4 chambers with the same problem. The only way to fix this is to install a Time-Sert steel bushing in the head which makes the head better than new. Here is a head with the problem, you can see the threads of the spark plug as the aluminum has been eaten away here. | |
