The infamous Cobra head tick
| For some reason the 03 and newer Cobra heads developed a tick rather quickly that the earlier heads did not have. Well after having a bunch come through here now the common problem I find is that the exhaust seats are not pressed into the heads as tightly as the earlier motors. The higher the boost the customer reported using the worse the condition of the exhaust seats. Some heads get to the point where the exhaust seats start to slide out of the head. Once this happens the valve gets pulled closer to the piston and the lash adjuster preload goes down. Lose enough preload and they will tick. If the seat comes all the way out you can destroy the motor. |
