Real world 600-700RWHP 2V combo
|
Turbos and 2V modulars are like peas and
carrots. You can make insane unstreetable power with a single
70-75mm turbo on these cars. Here is the default 600RWHP
"cheap" combo that will last many years if the tune is good and the
short block can keep up. We have logged nearly 3 years of
street and track abuse with our heads in a car with over 20lbs of
boost, they are designed to be beat on and hold up long term.
Shortblock - iron block bored no more than 0.020" over with a good forged rotating assembly Heads - our Stage 2 PI heads with the Stage 3 boost spring option Cams - our Stage 2 Turbo cams Intake - stock plastic plenum/TB - BBK 1780 Cat back - only Magnaflow and Borla show good gains from what I have learned but I have not seen them all
Here is this combo with a single 70mm turbo with 81 housing, and the full pipe kit from our local turbo guru Turbo Mike. Note that the HP peak is a plateau rather than a peak, this is what gets you down the track faster:
Yes that is 672RWHP and 720ftlbs of torque at the rear wheels on 93 octane pump gas, you can read more details about this car on this thread at Corral. IMHO - this combo is nearly unstreetable for most people. The car this is in will smoke most street tires when you floor the gas pedal at 90MPH in dry weather and is capable of mid 10 quarter mile times at over 130MPH.
Now go to a bigger intake manifold and/or bigger turbo and/or bigger housing and/or our Stage 2.5 turbo cams and you will make even more top end HP. All depends on how high you want to rev it, how fast you want to go, and if you can get the rest of the car to keep up.
Keep an eye on this page for more details and pictures of this combo and also an intake swap test to see how much more the Edelbrock intake will allow.
