Real world 300RWHP 2V combo
|
Since I get asked all the time how to make a
real 300RWHP which will get a 3200lb vehicle over 110MPH in the
quarter mile here is the combo I know works, is cheap, doesn't bend
the valves, will last 100,000 miles if taken care of, and is
repeatable on most any dyno.
Shortblock - stock NPI type as you need at least 10.4:1 compression, 4V shortblock even better as you get near 12:1 compression this way Heads - our Stage 2 PI heads, or if on a budget our Stage 1 with the intake valve modification Cams - our Stage 2.5 NA - you can also run the Stage 2P NA if you want to trade ~5RWHP for a wider torque curve and about 5 more ftlbs of torque. Intake - stock plastic plenum/TB - BBK 1780 Cold air intake - JLT with 90mm MAF Longtube headers Midpipe - whichever you prefer X or H Cat back - only Magnaflow and Borla show good gains from what I have learned but I have not seen them all
These parts will do well over 300RWHP on most dynos and not only that the torque and HP peaks are ultra wide so the power is average rather than a quick peak. If you deviate from these parts you are on your own as especially with plenums and cold air intakes some are no better than stock.
The cheaper longtube headers available will reach this power level, better brands such as Edelbrock Victors will make even more.
Some dynos will read this combo higher some will read it lower. All dynos read different and all cars will respond different on different days depending on air temp and baro pressure. Don't stress if your car makes slightly less when tested on the dyno, test it at the track to see the real results. |
